Mr. Wille Eerola, Chairman of FPBC and Hon. Consul General of Pakistan to Finland, lead a delegation of Finnish waste-2-energy and waste-2-value company to Pakistan. Meetings were held with some of the leading Pakistani corporations in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad as well as with the Members of Lahore Chamber of Commerce, organized by the Committees of Pak-Finland Business and Environmental Issues of LCCI.
“Waste to Energy is one of the key areas where the Finnish companies and leading Finnish technology could help Pakistan massively. There are massive amount of waste in all the biggest cities in Pakistan and professional waste management is becoming a serious health issue. At the same time, with modern technology waste has become a resource and raw material with a clear value, instead of just being waste – and even that there would not be need for any emerging need for electricity anymore, waste can become so much else too, anything from bio-gas to bio-diesel and fertilizers”, HCG Mr. Wille Eerola stated during the tour. “Finland has the technology and deep understanding of circular economy, Pakistan has the challenge and plenty of waste to be handled – that’s a perfect technology-market match, I believe”
